The Rolling Stones

Post by Sam Park »

I remember a conversation that I had with a friend who is an investment banker. He makes more money in two weeks than I do in a year (sometimes more!) and his lifestyle shows it. He was going on and on about the kind of investments that he made recently and I casually asked him a simple question—“How much was enough? He continued to go on and on about how that would depend on the market and the increase in inflation and… I told him to just answer the question. He honestly couldn’t. On paper, the life of that shepherd who spontaneously began to play music on handmade instruments, singing and dancing cannot even compare to my friend’s. However, I think only one can say that their life is satisfying. I’m not even sure if we know how to be satisfied.

It’s no wonder Mick Jagger’s (The Rolling Stones) song “Satisfaction is so timeless. Every generation can relate to the line, “I can’t get no… satisfaction. But I try… I try. We look everywhere and to everyone and maybe for a moment, there is some satisfaction. However, there is never any restoration, unless that occurs on the heart and soul level. And that only happens in the presence of perfection. When we engage with God will we finally get any sense of satisfaction. And even when we are, that satisfaction doesn’t last. It’s not because of God. It’s because we are flawed. Hence, we can never be fully satisfied, until we are fully restored in Heaven. Maybe we need to be having deeper conversations about experiencing a little bit more of Heaven.
