This reflection really struck an area I have had to come to terms with previously. I am an introvert and so in a group (of which I am not leading) I tend to be reserved. I enjoy watching and observing. As such, it is easy to get lost and feel out of touch. I recent years, I find myself evaluating leaders by their ability to engage individuals the members. While this may seem unfair, it has been instructive for me and has been helpful.
With all of the said, moving to the point of …knowing the feeling, aspirations, convictions, and needs, has been difficult. Knowing names, yes; have I been able to go deeper, no.
Because of this days devotion, I find myself wanting to move beyond names (and title/roles) just as I expect leaders to do for me. |
