A Matter of the Heart

How does one hold the tension of a soft heat and a strong heart?

How does one learn to be gentle as doves and shrewd as sepents

At first glance it almost looks like Jesus is telling people to be "sneaky" or something like that. After all, isn’t that what "shrewd" means?

I think it speaks of having prudence or cleverness (snakes) on one hand, and sincerity and to pure intentions (doves) on the other.

This is a tough assignment and may lead to personal risk and sacrifice; however, God's flock will be protected.
