Handing Off to the Wolves

Post by ohbe8 »

I have observed pasors who permit anyone into the pulpit from which they guard their flock. They "hand the wolf (their) crook to hold." In some traditions, inexperienced pastors make this mistake but I am aware of one experienced pastor who let down his guard and invited the wolf into the fold. The result was an attack on the flock. It took a lot of work to gather them again.

Not only do our actions of chasing off wolves take an emotional toll, but the boldness to do so is an invitation for more refined attention from Satan. The cycle of emotional drain caused by adrenaline for the fight is an unceasing one. Not only are we guarding souls of our flock, we're in the fight for our own souls.
