Two big challenges and takeaways regarding spiritual vitality and ministry
“We have to keep digging because we know where the water is. It’s just sometimes deeper than we wish.†If Jesus promises (and he does!) to quench my soul thirst it may well require digging on my part to be refreshed. Dallas Willard reminds us that grace removes earning but it does not remove effort. In our quick-fix ,high speed ,microwaveable culture life giving engagement with God will at times require digging ( effort) and the investment of significant chunks of time.
It’s not just about skill it is about trusting God and engaging the Holy Spirit. The leader must be a man or woman anointed and empowered and guided by the Holy Spirit. _________________ Bill H |
