I can appreciate Laniak's exegetical prowess on John 21:15-17. As preachers we tend to make a big deal out of the intricacies and nuances of the word. Yet, I almost overlooked the emphasis on the MY.
Jesus reminds Peter and us the sheep belong to Him. If there's a detail to make a big fuss over, it's the fact we cannot treat the sheep as if we owned them. No matter how frustrated we get we must respond in love as God requires of us.
