The right balance of eating, drinking and resting is essential. Also, shepherds have to be vigilant regarding diseases that easily ravage a flock, keep an eye on menacing threats in the wilderness. The natural enemies of sheep are like wolves, bears, leopards and lions. These enemies usually target the young ones. A shepherd needs to be vigilant, strong, compassionate, skillful to find food, knowledgeable in healing the sheep, and ready to fight back predators. This is a responsible and rewarding job. Ministers need lot of grace and strength from the Lord to do this risky job. As a pastor I ask God’s guidance and wisdom every day to do this responsibility faithfully.
