Who really counts?

“Casualties come to some that are ‘driven hard.’�: This is the dark side of pastoral “success.� How many young or weak sheep are sacrificed on this altar of success, all in the name of making the budget, growing the church, or constructing the new building?
My newest parish is an assisted-living community. I’ve observed – sadly – that frail and elderly sheep are frequently neglected by their shepherds. Not many pastors visit our facility.
