"Alert and oriented times zero"

John Eldredge says that most of us live in a fog most of the time, “alert and oriented times zero.� Most of the time we live as if there were no battle. We ignore these words (or at least live as if they aren’t true). They just seem otherworldly. But what if movies like Saving Private Ryan, Blackhawk Dawn, Braveheart, Gladiator, Flags of our Fathers – are windows into this unfortunately true cosmic reality?
