Grabbing hold of the Tent Posts...

As I read this, I couldn't help but think of King David fleeing Absolam. He fled until he came to the tent of his friend and then he grabbed the tent posts. My reference material tells me that the culture of David's day demanded that you give shelter to whomever grabs the tent posts. The owner of the tent would shelter them as if they were family!
The devotion said: "...the ultimate goal is to get them all home." I would change to the tent anology to say, "the ultimate goal is to get them to grab hold of God's tent post," because then Christ has arranged to provide them shelter in the tent of God.
This comforts me somewhat. To know that they just have to grab hold. And that the Spirit will fill them and take over. I will still walk with them, encourage them, and teach them. But I don't have to take them all the way home - Jesus will do that.
