With a friend in his time of darkness

I appreciated Dr. Laniak's response to his friend going through a family tragedy. "Welcome to the darkness. There are more questions than answers in this place. But you'll find good company among those who understand how little we understand" (p. 172).
This week a friend in ministry is going through a difficult time in his marriage. I was reminded that I do not come with answers he may be seeking, but as I too have gone through days of darkness, I can sit with him where he is and ask God to help him understand the next steps he needs to take. And trust God for wisdom to counsel him in these next steps.
