Looking for Water

It seems that we need to pray, read, and reflect more, not less, because these actions can so easily become meaningless and rote rituals. We have to keep digging because we know where the water is. It’s just sometimes deeper than we wish. (p51)
Not only are we digging for water for the sheep, but we are digging for ourselves. We dig with the expectation that we will find water. The Chief Shepherd does not want us or his other sheep to perish.
