When I read day 8 - I thought about my past career in medical arena. We as patients go to the doctor’s for our problems and expect a cure. The shepherd knows each sheep and how to treat the sheep. I know when I was sick in the hospital I loved the touch of my sisters or the feel of my husband’s hand on mine. It gave me great comfort and assurance that everything was going to be ok. That is how it is when we go to Jesus who is our healer, everything will be ok. He will wash away every tear of disappointment and distress and purify our hearts with his words. Sometime we think touching is just physical but it is also the spoken word that can touch someone as well; what we say and how we say it will change and transform a person’s life.
The author asked do we take health for granted? Each and every day before we arise – we sit up in our beds and thank God for being alive on another day. We as leaders need some touch of encouragement when we do well and/or words of affirmation when we do well. We don’t always need someone pointing out the wrong we do or not saying good job – it is not for us to become pompous or arrogant but to know that you are headed in the right direction – no go down this road next time – or make a u turn – or try it another way – would be nice to hear from time to time – a gentle word of encouragement.
