My parched soul has experienced times of dry seasons of ministry, distanced from God and community. I have learned that “sipping regularly from the well is a healthy way to maintain my own journey. I have found it to be difficult to minister to my students when my soul is in the desert. However, there is so much richness in knowing that we can survive without rain if indeed our souls can linger on with everlasting water from our Shepherd. So many of my college students have deep wilderness experiences where they long to hear God, see God and even be touched by God. As a student pastor, I often find myself sharing the Gospel with students who are in spiritual droughts from a soul that hasn’t been water in years.
