The concept of the “Shepherd-Lamb as seen in Revelation 14:4 is compelling. We have a shepherd who leads us, but who also shows us what it means to be a lamb. Ultimately, following him means to be like him, to be a sacrifice on the cross. We follow him wherever he goes, even unto death on the cross. The cross is the ultimate wilderness experience – but even there, God the Shepherd is with us and leading us to life everlasting. We are called to be Shepherd-Lambs, shepherds who lay down our lives like lambs to be slaughtered, for the sake of our flock. But as we follow and imitate our Chief Shepherd-Lamb, we will join him in resurrection to glory.
