Well Digging

I have to admit...there are days when all I seem to be about is digging a well with my bare hands, instead of using the tools God has provided.

Getting through the 7 day sermon cycle, meetings, email, phone calls. Am I using the 'old shepherd's trick' to get the water flowing and throw a quick 'it all comes from God' out for all to hear.

The reminder about Moses and God's judgment upon him for his 'old shepherd's trick' stopped me dead in my tracks as I read this reflection. I wondered, will I not be allowed to enter the promised land with the flock I have been entrusted with and instead find myself with a new church and new flock. Will I then fall into the same old tricks? Or will I cling nakedly to the divine promise and God's power?
