Shared leadership

Post by RonJulian »

"Shared leadership is a reality in a flock and a biblical norm for the church" (p. 217).

As I read Day 32, this final paragraph jumped out at me. How often do I see leadership as my responsibility? It was a good reminder that "leadership is never reducible" (p. 217) to just me.

I am privileged to work with others that God uses as leaders. I need to be more aware of their gifts as leaders and allow them to be used to help me with my leadership responsibilities.

Even to the point of realizing that according to the imagery in 1 Corinthians 12, every believer has a leadership role to play in the life of the church based on the gift(s) he/she has been given by the Holy Spirit.

So, as a leader God asks me to work in collaboration with every member of his body in the areas of leadership that he has given to them. Thankfully the Holy Spirit is there to orchestrate our activities.

Lord, give me eyes to see the gifts in others for leadership and the grace to encourage them to lead in these areas. Amen.
