Jesus’s feeding miracles are instrumental in revealing who He is for the world. These are paralleled with the provision miracles of the YHWH in the wilderness. The salient theme is: the LORD will provide. The Lord’s provision is more than meeting the needs of the flock it is also God's Self-revelation. How do under-shepherds, in their own provisional care of the flock, point toward that salient theme of God revealing God’s Self through His providing hand?
It seems to me that if we do anything other than point toward the true Shepherd of the flock we do a disservice to the flock and negate the miraculous in the life of the sheep.
